Sarah Havle - President

Sarah was born and raised in the Western suburbs of Chicago by two educators, her father, Dr. Tyler taught at Herrick Jr. High for 35 yrs. She attended Illinois State University and earned a BS in Early Childhood Education and then went on to become a Kindergarten teacher in various schools over the next 8 years. Sarah and her husband Bill have lived in Downers Grove for over 20 years, they have raised their 3 children: Will(freshman at Western Michigan University), Tyler(Sophmore at DGS), and Ava(5th Grade) within the Kingsley neighborhood.

Sarah has been extremely active within the Kingsley PTA for over 13 years. She has been on the Exec Board 4 times( V.P. Standing Committee twice, V.P. of Ways & Means and now President). When she wasn’t on the Exec Board she volunteered to run Fun Lunch, Book Fairs, Adult Fundraisers, Mother/Daughter events and Father/Son events. In her free time she likes to walk her dogs, read, host parties, binge watch Netflix and go in vacations with her family.

Ryan Garrity - 1st Vice President

Ryan was born and raised in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago. He attended Eastern Illinois University where he earned his BA in English. After college, he met his wife Lindsay. Shortly after they married, he returned to school to earn his MBA from Benedictine University with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Managing Innovation. Together they have three sons: Keegan (1st), Patrick (K) and Theodore (3 y.o.). After spending several years in financial services, Ryan recently switched gears and has found a home at Advocate Aurora Health as a pharmacy Analyst. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with their boys, fishing, golf, craft beers and vacationing in their family cabin in Sister Lakes, MI.   He also tries to watch Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks games whenever he has a chance. 

Michelle Scardina - Co-Vice President, Ways and Means

Michelle grew up in Woodridge, IL and attended Downers Grove North.  She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is currently an Executive Recruiter with Cognizant Technology Solutions.  Michelle and her husband Brian moved to Downers Grove in 2014 and have two children, Nick (7th) and Ellie (4th).  This is Michelle’s first year on the PTA board.

Maggie Zimmerman - Co-Vice President, Ways and Means

Maggie grew up in Elmhurst. She received her bachelor’s degree in Communications and Public Relations from Marquette University and her master’s degree in School Social Work from Dominican University. Maggie moved to Downers Grove with her husband Mike in 2007. Together they have four children: Claire (5th grade) Molly (4th grade) Brendan (2nd grade) and Jack (Pre-K). She worked several years in the Plainfield School District as a school social worker before deciding to stay home with her kids. Maggie has volunteered for many of the Kingsley PTA committees, but this is her first year on the PTA board.

Beth Tournis - Vice-President, Standing Committees

Beth moved to Downers Grove in 2015 with her husband Jim and two children, Jackson (3rd grade) and Mia (1st grade).  She currently works part-time as a pediatric Audiologist at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.  This is her second year on the PTA board.

Rachel Mayer - Treasurer & Financial Secretary

Rachel was born and raised in Downers Grove and studied Accounting at Purdue University, where she met her husband Eric.  After living in Chicago, they returned to the Western Suburbs and have lived in Downers Grove for 9 years with their three children, Noelle (6th grade), Elise (5th grade) and Travis (3rd grade).  Rachel is a CPA, currently working in Joint Venture Accounting for Fresenius Medical Care.  She previously worked at Ernst & Young and CNA Insurance.  This is Rachel’s second year on the board having served as Financial Secretary for the 2019-2020 school year.
